HEALTH CARE SUPPORT WORKERS’ WEEK: OCTOBER 3-7, 2016
WINNIPEG – CUPE is celebrating the work of its more than 9,100 members in health care support roles across the province. The Government of Manitoba has proclaimed Health Care Support Workers’ Week for October 3-7, 2016.
“CUPE’s health care support workers are the friendly faces on the frontlines of health care, or behind-the-scenes in research, data, and laboratory roles,” states Kelly Moist, President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Manitoba. “They are caring staff with big hearts who work hard to make life better for all of us.”
“Manitobans count on the provincial government to provide the health care services we all need,” adds Moist. “From care homes to hospitals, blood clinics to community clinics, cancer care to prenatal care, research facilities to nutritional facilities, health care support workers are a crucial part of the public health care system on which we all rely.”
Next week, CUPE locals in a number of health care workplaces will hold or participate in events to celebrate and appreciate health care support workers.
CUPE is pleased to join the Province of Manitoba in recognizing the important work of our members in the health care sector across the province, during Health Care Support Workers’ Week from Monday, October 3rd to Friday, October 7th.
